Situated away from the centre of town, The Rookies is more than just a coffeeshop, having a hotel upstairs. Being away from the main drag and in a less frequented part of the city mean it’s relaxed and never overly busy, giving you time to sit down and take stock of the world.
The Rookies weed menu doesn’t have the widest range weed strains, but what it does have, is good. You’re able to get classic strains, like White Widow, the Cheese and Amnesia Haze and the hash on the menu is also limited to the standard Nepal Polm, Super Polm and Afghani. However, the weed has a good reputation amongst experienced tokers and comes highly recommended.
Rookies is a spacious coffee shop with plenty of comfy seating, wooden décor and two pool tables. The atmosphere is pub like, but relaxed and it’s a great place for first time smokers. The staff are friendly and will point you in the right direction, if you let them know what you’re looking for. If you’re in the area and looking for some where relaxed and spacious, then you should definitely pop in.
There’s a good selection of hot and cold drinks available, whether you’re looking for a milky cappuccino or a tasty smoothie. The smoking room itself is sealed off, but Rookies does have a separate bar. A special mention is reserved for their cakes, whether they are space cakes or not. They are delicious and should be sampled if you choose to visit.
Despite a hotel attached being attached, The Rookies avoids having a touristy feel, and instead is a refreshing and welcoming place to visit. Being away from the red light district means it can do things a little different, appealing to the hard core smoker more than the tourist. This is a highly recommended coffeeshop and hotel, which you should consider for your accommodation should you choose to visit Europe’s Smoking Mecca.
